I am pleased to share my Top Food & Drink Trends 2020 research based on my view of what are going to be the big food and drink trends in 2020.
I have a fascination for how commonalities of needs, thinking and desires develop into trends and how these accelerate certain behaviours more than others.
Accelerated Culture is impacting on every aspect of our lives. Not just in the pace of societal and technological change, but in a constant consumer desire for the new.
Our increasing longevity and relative wealth are pushing the boundaries of functional food development to deliver better faster.
The gap between ‘food for fuel’ and food for enjoyment is widening.
Customised, 3D printed vitamin supplement programmes are already with us and DNA dinners development is accelerating.
New Food & Drink Trends for 2020
Against this backdrop, I’ve added new sections to my food and drink trends 2020 report this year: 13– Blue Planet & 14–Eatery Theatre.
These two, strong trends are proving very influential in how we make our food and drink choices.
Their impact is also far reaching, stretching across all other trends as significant behaviour shapers.
I’ve also researched emerging cuisines – what’s hot and what’s not – identifying opportunities for disruptive food and drink product innovations which you can see here.
